You must obtain the
proper uniform and equipment before you begin to referee
matches for GLASRA. How you look is very
important. As a
certified referee, you have a professional obligation to
look the part.
Beginning in 1999, uniforms changed to the pinstripe gold,
red, black, and blue jerseys that are still seen today. In
November 2008, the uniform jerseys were updated to include
a new pinstripe pattern and add a new green jersey.
Official Sports (www.officialsports.com) is the official
supplier of USSF uniforms through 2010.
These uniforms must be worn in both USSF and MHSAA matches.
In USSF, gold is the primary jersey, with red, black and
blue being alternate jerseys.
In MHSAA, gold is the primary jersey, with red and black
being alternate jerseys. Referees
cannot wear blue in high school matches.
In the
market for another jersey? Not sure which color to buy
next? The GLASRA Executive Board recommends that you buy
jerseys in this
order...
1.
GOLD (primary color)
2. RED (alternate color) or BLUE (alternate color)
3. BLACK (alternate color) or GREEN (alternate color)
As of spring 2008, MHSAA has not approved blue or green
referee jerseys.
All three officials must
wear the same color
jersey... all three should
wear the same
sleeve length.
If you consider yourself a "serious" referee,
buy all five
colors in BOTH sleeve lengths. They make perfect birthday,
holiday and graduation gifts.
